Waseda Chronicle reborn as Tansa

2021.03.09 15:11 Tansa

On March 8, 2021, Waseda Chronicle officially changed its name to Tokyo Investigative Newsroom Tansa.

Waseda Chronicle began publication on February 1, 2017, as a project of the Waseda University Institute for Journalism. Although we became a nonprofit, independent from the university, one year later, we kept the “Waseda” moniker. However, it was time for our name to better express who we are and what we do — hence the fresh start as Tansa.

As the new name implies, our focus on investigative journalism will remain unchanged. The same goes for our identity as an independent, nonprofit media organization and our commitment cross-border collaboration.

But here’s what is new: Tansa’s younger members will play an even greater role in the organization going forward, as both journalists and managers of this nonprofit. And, although investigative journalism will always be the center of our work, we’re expanding the scope of our content by creating new sections for features and videos.

We’re looking forward to sharing more pioneering, fearless journalism from Japan for years to come.
