Adults in the Student Suicide Case ~School Edition~
Does a school that fails to protect its children have any right to exist? In 2017, at the private Kaisei Gakuen school in Nagasaki, a second year student was relentlessly bullied and driven to take his own life. The school not only neglected its duties under the 'Act for the Promotion of Measures to Prevent Bullying', but also attempted to cover up the circumstances of his death. In spite of this, it continues to operate as an accredited institution of learning. To prevent this tragedy from repeating itself, as it so often does nationwide, we must question the role and accountability of this school.
