Imagine Stopping Japan’s Path Toward War

“Nothing to kill or die for.” “Imagine all the people living life in peace.” John Lennon’s song “Imagine,” written during the height of the Vietnam War, speaks to the importance of imagining a peaceful world. Yet Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi, who lacks that imagination, has expressed her intention to make Japan once again capable of waging war by amending the constitution. In many ways, Japan’s present mirrors its 1930s, when the country embroiled itself in war. Through exposing the dark side of Japanese politics and conveying the hopes and concerns of ordinary citizens yearning for peace, Tansa is working alongside its readers to prevent Japan from going to war again.
